Continuity errors.

In this video I found out more about what continuity errors were.

Continuity is a concern in the production of film and television from the difficulty of rectifying an error in continuity after shooting has wrapped up.

My class has now been put into groups.

My group includes me, Marian and Peggy.

Marian is very good at organising work so she will be able to look after all of the papers that we need to keep safe. Peggy is good at making music and will be able to help us with making music for our opening sequence. I am quite good at drawing and will be able to draw the story boards.

Our group had difficulties deciding which idea to choose. We then decided to change our whole idea and genre.

We firstly chose an idea about a girl who wants to commit suicide and in the opening sequence her mum and dad would be arguing while she was with her boyfreind. Then her mother would take out her anger on her daughter and start to hit her. However we did like this idea it was too short to be a opening sequence. It also contained to much.. so if so much happened in the opening sequence no one would want to watch the rest of the film.

We did like the idea of suicide, and wanted to explore more about it..

Our new idea is about a girl who wants to commit suicide because she is struggerling with life and she cannot take life anymore. Our chosen genre was to do drama, as drama films have to do with life situations.

We also want to raise awareness about suicide and how it can effect people.

Our job allocations presentation:

A film that really inspired us was "Thirteen"
Its about a rebellious girl who takes drugs, has under age sex and drinks. In the begining she starts of innocent and we wanted to use that character in our opening sequence.

We are being put into our groups soon. I was hoping i could be with Difya and Awra. I would like to be put with Difya because we are both thinking about doing the same genre. I would also like to be with Awra because i know she works well, and we both would work good together.

I have been doing media for 6 weeks now. We have been learning more about opening sequences. A opening sequence that I was really inspired me was 'American pyscho.'

In the beginning of it we see something that looks like droplets of blood. We think its droplets of blood because its filmed very quickly, we then realise its droplets of food. That was a smart idea because the film is a thriller and a convention of a thriller is blood but right after the opening sequence is a restaurant scene which is why there is food in the opening sequence.

For example in this picture it looks like droplets of blood but then it turns into jam.

We had to do do another presentation on research and planning about our film. I talked about films that inspire me, for example the notebook. I was inspired by this film because of the characters. I like how the female character is upper class and the male character is lower class.

This is the scene:

In this scene it is really ironic how the female character is upper class and the male character is lower class. As the girl is shown to be higher in this scene.

We thought about fonts we should use, conventions, plot, special effects and angles. We decided what we want we our characters to be like, I want my characters to be like the main characters in the notebook. The female character being upper class and the male character being lower class. I decided what BBFC age guideline I will be doing which will be PG. My film will be PG because anyone can watch my film but sometimes a parent may have to watch the film with there child as some parts may upset them. I decided what my film is going to be about, it is about a normal teenage boy who isn't popular and who doesn't really socialise. Then a pretty girl moves next door and changes his life. I had to watch a few films about romance/drama films to try and think about what my plot would be. I watched the film 'the notebook' because that is a typical romance/drama film. The plot is about a man who is lower class falls in love with a woman who is upper class. This was were my first idea came from but then decided to change it. I then watched the film 'The girl next door' this is where i got my idea about a girl moving next door to a boy who is not popular.

My INDIVIDUAL presentation

My strenghs of my presentation was the fact that i used a lot of visuals. I also thought that storyboard had a good use of angles. I felt that the movies that i had researched where all good films to research which all related to eachother.

The weaknesses of my presentation was that i didn't use any moving images. I also needed to talk more about the characters i have chosen, conventions and special fx. I also needed to consider how conventions will challenge and re-inforce in my film.

So far in media I had to create a presentation and choce my genre. I reseached about most genres and the genre I have chosen to do is romance/drama. I gave a brief description about myself and also about the history of film. In my presentation I wrote about opening sequences, the opening sequence I chose to talk about was titanic. I also wrote about what you have to do to create a good opening seqence.

In my presentation I learned about more genres, I wanted to find out more so that I could be fully aware of what I was going to choose. I learned that before film was nothing like how it is now. That they would use lots of images to make it an illusion of continious motion. I also found out about allot of different romace/drama movies that ive never heard of before.

For the rest of the year in media I expect to be making an opening sequence with some of my other class mates.

My INDIVIDUAL presentation:

My improvements for next time is to include more information about opening sequences and how they inspired me.
